Make the Move Day

Health and Social Care Teams in the city (of Sheffield) are uniting to celebrate “Make the Move Day” on 9th July,  joining forces with the fabulous parkrun events across the city.

On this special occasion healthcare teams will come together to walk, run, volunteer, or just enjoy being at one of the seven incredible parkrun events hosted by what is known as The Outdoor City for good reason.

Whether they work in a GP practice, hospital or one of the newer social prescribing centres, health and social care staff value being active in the fresh air in the company of others. Recent research backs up their opinion showing time in open spaces with others improves wellbeing and provides a strong sense of belonging.

Collaboration and community have been at the heart of the pandemic response, physical activity continues to be of vital importance for people to recover and reconnect.

Make The Move Will see teams coming back together and being a little more active. So why not join us on 9 July, and bring your family, your friends, your work colleagues, and neighbours for one big celebration in our fantastic parkrun parks. Community gardens are open to the public and maintained by local volunteers. They blossom in neglected spots, are unique and change with each season.
