Helping PEOPLE TO MOVE MORE
Helping people to move more is a training framework required to strengthen non-clinical health and care workforce to recognise wider health, economic, social and organisational value in living a more active lifestyle. To increase confidence, skills and knowledge in workforce to approach active conversations with patients and people living in our communities.
The training offer 3-hour training session to minimum 15 people for non- clinical Health and Care roles. Bespoke training delivery, tailored to the needs and priorities of your workforce. The course is FREE we just ask for support with venues and additional delivery requirements.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Module 1 - Definition of Physical Activity
Guidelines on physical activity, simplifying language, framing the context behind moving more, understand levels of intensities.
Module 2 - Building resilience
Confidence scale, personal perceptions, biases, barriers stereotypes, fears and priorities, role and responsibilities, balancing, advice and support.
Module 3 - Benefits and barriers
Discuss health benefits to moving more, understand wider benefits and societal impact. Dahlgram-Whitehead rainbow theory. Introduction to the 5 ways of wellbeing. Discuss physical, social, psychological and technical barriers through example patient referrals.
Module 4 - Behaviour change
Introduction to COM-B model, understand assessing capability and motivation, before providing opportunities. Share example template for 30 minutes of movement.
Module 5 - Active conversations
Share how we can best support others, explore motivational interviewing techniques, consider a person - centred approach, utilise the nudge theory, establish conversation starters, identify opportunities.
Module 6 - Signposting opportunities
Link to local strategy and organisations, connect to referral opportunities, influence new opportunities
